Monks playing "football" near Darjeeling

One of the huge monestaries of Darjeeling

Arrival in Darjeeling:
This is the bustling "Jeep"-Stop, because most people use shared jeeps for transportation

One of the few nice old buildings (Bellevue Hotel)
remaining from the British period in Darjeeling

...more relicts from the glorious British times

...next to other (newer) buildings around town!

These guys helped us organizing train tickets
on "short notice" (2 - 3 days prior to departure!!!)

The Station Manager was never in his office for taking care of such kinds of tasks...

The first generation of the "Darjeeling Himalayan Railway" - now in museum

This railway station at approx. 2200 m is still served...

...by that steam train, the second generation of the "Darjeeling Himalayan Railway"

Children playing on the streets, just next to the narrow-gauge rails still used to today

The railway line ends in Darjeeling, approx. 2100 m above sea level

They still have three steam engines waiting there for the daily service!

Another monastery near Ghoom...

...where we happen to be at the right time for listening to two monks playing their instruments

...

Monks outside the prayer hall, before taking their meal
