Cottage in the village (Yuksom, ~1800 m) where we start our trek

School children say goodbye

Some of our luggage is carried by porters, and heavier stuff by animals like this one

During this trek we have to cross a couple of such bridges

First day: lunchbreak in the shade

Small settlement (Tsokha, ~3000 m) where we spend the first night on the trek

Almost comfortable!

Inside a traditional hut: We're offered tea...

...and local "beer" - called Thongpa (or similar)

In a different hut we are allowed in, drink real beer (but very strong, ~8 %)
and warm up a bit before dinner

Great views on the next morning!

Animals still not loaded for breaking up camp...

...while we enjoy our breakfast in the sun!

...

Typical scenario for having lunches during the day

Fairytale forest - our path is partially "paved" by tree logs

Luggage is tied onto the animals again after a lunch break

First view of the sun and blue sky on the cloudy second day
This view is from Dzongri Peak (~4100 m)

Last sun in the evening - two of the guides joined us on the short tour before dinner

Delicious food served at approximately 4000 m: Our Nepali cook even bakes a cake for us!

Next morning: After getting up at 5 o'clock and heading for Dzongri Peak again
we catch views of the first sunrays shining on not-so-distant Kanchendzonga (8598 m)
On the picture: Marco & myself freezing but enjoying the great atmosphere!

Now the sun has reached us - I start feeling better

After breakfast we proceed to Dzongri La pass (~4500 m) passing by deserted huts

Great views from the pass - we can see the path towards Goecha La pass (4900 m) and Kanchendzonga (8598 m)

...of course Marco made it as well! Make sure to show prove :-)

Left and right: our guides Mingma & Jigme (middle: guide from other group)

After our return to Yuksom our cook bakes another cake, for farewell and saying thank you
